Kokomo High School Bulletin for Friday, August 19, 2022

Seniors GEAR UP GEAR UP tutoring will begin on Tuesday, August 16. We will meet in the media center from 2:30 to 4:00. You need to provide your own transportation at 4:00 or earlier. We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday with tutors in math, English, foreign language, and assistance through tutor.com in all subjects. We also are here to help you with college applications and scholarship applications. If you are an athlete and practice doesn’t start until 3:00, please come to the media center from 2:30-2:50 to work on your homework or begin a college application. Your families are invited to join us on the last Thursday of every month at 3:00 for a special diner night where we provide dinner and discuss colleges, social-emotional learning, scholarships, and other topics that you need addressed. Please see Mrs. Luckey (Scott) in room 248 if you have questions.


Student All Sports Passes Student All-Sport Passes are on sale NOW for $25 until August 26th. Please come to the Athletic Dept to order and pick up your pass. This will get you in to all home athletic events, excluding tournaments. Purchase an All-Sport Pass and support your fellow Wildkats!!


REMINDER TO WEAR ID's at ALL TIMES A reminder ALL students are expected to wear their student ID at all times!!!

Opportunities are continuously being added. Feel free to make a copy of the sheet so that you can write your own notes. Be sure to pay attention to deadlines. While this list is not exhaustive, it will contain lots of local and KHS only scholarships, especially as the year goes on!


Speech/Debate Any student interested in joining speech or debate should attend the callout meeting on Tuesday, August 23, from 2:30 to 3:00 in the back of the Media Center. Speech has seven types of interpretive events and nine types of public address events. Debate has six types of debate events. Competition season runs from October through February, so if you like acting, poetry, writing your own piece, or arguing political topics then the speech and debate teams are for you! We also will work around your schedule and you decide when to compete. Some events include partners, so bring a friend! See Mrs. Luckey in room 248 or Miss Craig in room 232 if you have any questions.


KHS Book Club Call Out The KHS Book Club call-out meeting will be this Friday, August 19 at 2:30 in room 160. Please contact Ms. Lewis with questions.


MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD. Students interested in serving on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board this school year should pick up an application in Mr. Mathias’ room (158). The MYAB is a board where juniors and seniors at KHS can serve on the boards of local agencies and non-profit organizations and learn about how these organizations work, and to serve as the youth voice on these boards. Most of the boards meet once a month in the evening, and we will also have three breakfasts with the Mayor here at KHS during third period. All applications must be turned in to Mr. Mathias no later than 2:30 p.m. on Friday Aug. 19th.


WRESTLING There will be a wrestling callout and parent meeting on Tuesday, August 23rd at 6:30 in the Haworth Gym. Season information will be handed out.
